The impact of Covid-19 meant some major changes in the way Norfolk’s GP surgeries communicated with us.
As the use of websites and digital solutions grows, how has it been for patients?
Healthwatch Norfolk is launching a new survey to find out to ensure the drive to digital has ensured GP help and support has remained strong while also keeping patients and staff safe.
It wants to talk to patients across Norfolk and Waveney, as well as surgeries and their teams to find out experiences, problems, and good practice.
The areas covered by the survey, which will take around 10 minutes to complete, includes:
- how appointment booking has worked
- whether it has aided the communication of test results and arranging of prescriptions
- accessing other support for patients
- communicating with other organisations and people providing care, and finding extra information and advice
The results will then be given to the Norfolk and Waveney Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), which is responsible for GP services, to assess how the digital systems have fared.
Alex Stewart, chief executive of Healthwatch Norfolk, said:
“The impact of the pandemic means we have all had to find different ways to communicate and it has been no different for GPs and their teams.
Having a range of digital ways to contact the team at your surgery has taken time to adjust to, and we are keen to find out how that experience has been, both good and bad.
Whatever your feedback, we want to hear it. The experiences of patients, carers and relatives will help to develop and improve the digital technology connecting us to our surgery.”
